Joseph and I came to this SPC carwash along telok blangah road and were very impressed by the services. Basically those who doing the car wash for us belong to MINDS. They are a group of people who are intellectually challenged. About 7-8 of them clean and re-clean our little white vios with all their might all at the same time. One of them the supervisor took pain in pointing out to his workers which portion or corners of the car that they need to clean. Wow, this guy is very serious with his work. What warms my heart is to see all of them smiling happily while cleaning our car under the hot sun and waving at us through the windows. It seemed that the hot sun doesn't batter them at all. And most important of all, they are not limited by their own handicap. What a great attitude!!

I managed to take a picture of one of the MINDS person. His name was Alex and he readily posh for me when I requested for a picture. All of them gave us such a heart warming experiences that we decide to come back often for their carwash service.

Many thoughts came. I was so touched by these people. These MINDS people may not be as intelligent or sophisticated as many of us are, but they really have great attitude. Sometimes we whined with our lives and circumstances, complained about our jobs, about not having enough money, fear about the market changes etc. Well compared to these people, I think we are much more fortunate.. Some people may deem this as some low class occupation. I’ve been to many car washing services but I find none are as happy, passionate as these MINDs people, enjoying their lives, having a great positive attitude.

I just feel that the Lord is happy with them, simply because they are happy and value the lives that God has given them.
1 Tim 6:6. Now godliness with contentment is great gain.

Well, It’s time to give thanks and count our blessings!
When my boy is older, I will want him to get to know these people and to develop a heart of compassion and empathy for the less fortunate and learning to give back to society. I know a mother who started teaching his boy phonics at 2 months old. Yes it’s important to start learning at a young age but to me having a heart for society, giving back to the poor and needy is important as well. I don’t want to have a boy who is intelligent and getting all “As” in his schoolwork but scored zero when it comes to generosity and loving God wholehearted and loving people fervently.

Long time have not been blogging.

Recently, I've been doing a lot of soul searching while taking care of Jayden before I start my new job in citibank. I've been with Prudential NGO for 3.5 yrs now under the leadership of Nicholas Goh. He has been a good and generous boss to all of us. I remembered it was quite difficult during the 1st year where I had to stand long hours getting clients in roadshows. But skills start to pick up and I began to know how to go about doing the business through more effective means. Well, I decide to move on after much consideration for career advancement and personal development. NGO has a good christian enviroment and it's also a place where I think much of me has been developed mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Anyway, I have been impacted by what was preached during sunday service at jurong west. Pastor talked about this pastor Alex Abraham in Surubaya who has a humble begining as a taxi driver!! That was very encouraging, do not despise the days of small beginnings. He went sharing Pastor Alex testimony of how he knocked down a boy who was bleeding from nose, ears mouth and he ran to a church. He prayed to the "Unknown God" of the church that if God would spare the life of the boy and his life, he would serve Him the rest of his life. Pastor Alex was arrested the next day and the police brought him to the hospital to see the "dead" boy. To all their surprise, the boy who sat on the hospital bed was normal and alive. Pastor Alex was then released and he started preaching the gospel since then and did many great and mighty things in Indonesia. He now has 130,000 members in all his affliated churches added together.

Pastor Kong then continue preaching about 4 simple points.

Self image: How we see ourselves

Self Worth: How we value ourselves

Self Esteem: How we feel ourselves

Self- Respect: How we honour about ourselves/ dignity

I was totally convicted by the message. A lot of conclusions and decisions made are based on how we feel. It's important to feel good about ourselves. Well, I decide the way to get myself feel good about myself is to based it on the Word of God. I began to start confessing and declaring to myself in the mirror " Linying, God is going to prosper you, you will have MORE than enough. You will have so much that you got to give them away! You can't stop the blessings of God in life!! Your team is going to GROW!!! If God is for me, who can be against me? You are going to have a BLESSED family! God loves you and you are the APPLE of God's eye~!!

Amen!!!

Was surfing and came across this interesting website. http://keirsey.com/sorter/selector.aspx

and here is my result.

Your Keirsey Temperament Sorter Results indicates that your personality type is that of the GUARDIAN

All Guardians (SJs) share the following core characteristics:

Guardians pride themselves on being dependable, helpful, and hard-working. Guardians are concerned citizens who trust authority, join groups, seek security, prize gratitude, and dream of meting out justice. Guardians tend to be dutiful, cautious, humble, and focused on credentials and traditions. Guardians make loyal mates, responsible parents, and stabilizing leaders. Guardians are the cornerstone of society, for they are the temperament given to serving and preserving our most important social institutions.

Guardians have natural talent in managing goods and services--from supervision to maintenance and supply -- and they use all their skills to keep things running smoothly in their families, communities, schools, churches, hospitals, and businesses. Guardians can have a lot of fun with their friends, but they are quite serious about their duties and responsibilities.

Guardians take pride in being dependable and trustworthy; if there's a job to be done, they can be counted on to put their shoulder to the wheel. Guardians also believe in law and order, and sometimes worry that respect for authority, even a fundamental sense of right and wrong, is being lost. Perhaps this is why Guardians honor customs and traditions so strongly -- they are familiar patterns that help bring stability to our modern, fast-paced world. Practical and down-to-earth, Guardians believe in following the rules and cooperating with others. They are not very comfortable winging it or blazing new trails; working steadily within the system is the Guardian way, for in the long run loyalty, discipline, and teamwork get the job done right.

Guardians are meticulous about schedules and have a sharp eye for proper procedures. They are cautious about change, even though they know that change can be healthy for an institution. Better to go slowly, they say, and look before you leap. Guardians make up as much as 40 to 45 percent of the population, and a good thing, because they usually end up doing all the indispensable but thankless jobs everyone taken granted for.

Interesting report of myself. Try it yourself.

I'm very blown away by this sharing on Indescribable God by Louis Giglio. The 1st time I saw this is during C.O.D.E RED in Youth camp 08 few weeks back. He shared about how BIG the known universe is, show the pictures of different types of galaxies and their measurements in terms of billions of light years. I was captivated by the beautiful images he show of the universe.

What blown me away was this photograph taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. It is of the center of a black hole in a galaxy millions of light years from Earth. We Christians believe that God created the universe and everything in it. My 1st reaction was "WOW" . It's the picture of our Lord Jesus Christ!!

He went on to share about laminin. Laminin is kind of protein that acts as the glue that holds all of our trillions of cells together. Here is a diagram of what laminin looks like in scientific circles.

At the end of video, I couldn't help but was moved to tears. Whenever problems start to overwhelm me, pain or fear or anxiety hits me, or how powerless or defeat that I feel, I just need to know how BIG and how GREAT, how indescribable, how uncontainable my God is and that helps me to realise how small my problems are. I know now why Psalmist David says in Psalm 8:4 "What is man that You are mindful of him,And the son of man that You visit him?"

I think i know the answer. He loves me and have a great plan for me.
